We Published Our Losing Bot First

We Published Our Losing Bot First

October 18, 2026 · Nova Stories

Here's our first paper-trading run, in full:

Starting capital: $1,000.00
Final equity: $854.02
P&L: −$145.98 (−14.6%)
Trades: 25 · Wins: 2 · Losses: 19
Fees paid: $69.51

We could have quietly deleted it. Started a fresh run, posted only the good one, and sold you a dream. Every scammy signal group on the internet does exactly that.

We published it instead. Every trade, every fee, the whole ugly scorecard — live on the Nova Trader dashboard for anyone to inspect.

Why losers matter more than winners

A track record you can't see the losers in isn't a track record — it's an advertisement. The 65%-win-rate screenshots floating around crypto Twitter are either cherry-picked, paper-traded with no fees, or invented outright. Ours includes the $69.51 in fees, because fees are real and they eat strategies alive.

Run 1 taught us something real: the old single-strategy bot bled out on chop. That's why it was retired and replaced with three tiered bots — Safe, Medium, and High — each with hard risk limits and kill switches. The loss paid for the lesson. That's what paper trading is for.

The rule going forward

Every run gets published. Winners, losers, flat months — all of it, on the public dashboard, updated every cycle. If a strategy can't survive daylight, it doesn't deserve your money. And if our bots ever earn the right to trade real capital, you'll have watched the entire proof happen in public.

The dashboard doesn't have a delete button.
